At the ashram, we feed and support many Sadhus. A Sadhu is a renunciant, one who gives up all possessions in life in order to devote themselves to the pursuit of God. They can be of any age as some take up this way of life from childhood with most of them taking it up later in life.

Devotional Sadhus Spread Blessings Across Cities

Carrying the vibration of their devotion to god, Sadhus roam from city to city blessing everyone they encounter. They visit ashrams for food, medical help and spiritual inspiration from the Guru. Sadhus usually dress in saffron robes and many of them let their hair and beards grow long as a practice of surrendering it all to God.

Nurturing Devotion

Varanasi, where our ashram is located is a special place of pilgrimage for Sadhus and there are many Sadhus that live in the area close to the ashram. They nourish themselves at our bhandaras and morning breakfasts, as well as participate in our medical camps. We will also have a Sadhu room available for Sadhus to stay at our ashram when we open and are able to receive guests.

Divine Compassion

Sai Maa especially loves to care for the Sadhus during the Kumbh events and they come by the thousands to receive the blessings of Maa. In India it is very auspicious and important to care for another person's needs, especially by providing food and shelter. When we care for Sadhus, we care for our souls, our higherself and our liberation.
